Which area the San Francisco office serves

Unconfirmed

Serves Northern California and the Bay Area. Some directories also assign it northwestern states, but we could not verify that today against a primary source, so it is left out.

This split is not yet checked against the official source: confirm it before booking.

Available services

Requirements and fees are set by the country's authority, not by each office. Each guide details them with a source, or explains where to confirm them when no figure can be published.

Before you go

  1. Book your appointment

Most services require an appointment. Book on the official portal, never through intermediaries.

  2. Gather your documents

Check the requirements for your service and bring originals and copies separately.

  3. Reconfirm and arrive early

Check hours and closures the day before. A home-country holiday is the most common cause of a wasted trip.

Practical questions before you go

Short answers based on the jurisdiction, channels and hours documented in this record.

I live in Sacramento — is San Francisco my office?

Yes, Northern California is served from this office. Check the appointment portal first for mobile consulates scheduled closer to your city, since the ministry runs them periodically.

What do I bring to renew a Salvadoran passport?

As a general rule, your DUI or previous passport plus the current fee. If you hold no Salvadoran document at all, call 1-888-301-1130 first to learn how to prove your identity.

Is the consulate open on weekends?

Regular hours are Monday through Friday. The Salvadoran consular network sometimes schedules extraordinary Saturday sessions, announced on the appointment portal and the consulate's official social media.

Office-specific notes

  • Its current office is on the second floor at 507 Polk Street, a couple of blocks from Civic Center; older guides still cite 870 Market Street, an address that no longer applies.
  • Together with Los Angeles it is the only Salvadoran career office on the continental West Coast north of Santa Ana, so it draws users from across Northern California.
  • Much of the service runs on appointments from the official portal; walk-ins depend on the day's capacity, so arriving early helps.
