Who processes your data

The data controller is Rubén Cañadas, editor of ConsulMap. For anything concerning your data, write to hola@consulmap.com.

The site and the alerts database are hosted on a virtual private server contracted from Hostinger, acting as processor. We do not share that database with third parties.

The finder sends us nothing

The jurisdiction finder runs entirely in your browser. The country, city or ZIP code you type never leaves your device: we do not receive it, store it or aggregate it.

We do not ask for or store document numbers, family data, immigration information or personal documents in order to browse the directory. Result pages are not indexed and do not enter the sitemap.

Map and directions

Each office map only loads when you open it. The map images are served by the OpenStreetMap Foundation (tile.openstreetmap.org), which receives your IP address and the referring page, like any web server.

Your location is only requested if you tap “Directions from my location”, and your browser asks you first. The coordinates go straight from your browser to the FOSSGIS e. V. routing service (routing.openstreetmap.de), which calculates the route to the consulate. ConsulMap never receives your location, does not store it and does not use it for anything else. The map sets no cookies.

Analytics and advertising

This version of the site has no analytics and no advertising: no measurement tags, no third-party scripts, no profiling. That is also why there is no cookie banner.

If measurement or advertising is ever enabled, the appropriate consent will be requested first, it will be visibly labelled and this page will be updated.

How long we keep data

An unconfirmed subscription expires and is deleted after thirty days: without confirmation we send nothing, so keeping it serves no purpose. Waiting-list addresses are kept until alerts go live or until you ask for deletion, whichever comes first.

If you unsubscribe we delete your topics and keep your address and the unsubscribe date for twelve months as evidence that you exercised the right, then delete it. You may ask for immediate erasure and we will do it.

Your rights

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability of data concerning you by writing to the controller's address above. Erasure does not depend on that mailbox: the alerts page has a form that deletes your address and everything it followed, just by entering it.

You may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority: in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.

Email alerts

If you subscribe to alerts we store your email address, your language, the countries, states, offices or services you follow, and the date and page where you gave consent. That record exists so we can show the subscription was yours.

The legal basis is your consent, which you confirm by email before anything is sent. You can withdraw it at any time through the unsubscribe link in every message, with no account or password: unsubscribing deletes all your followed topics.

We do not use that address for advertising, do not share or sell it, and do not combine it with your finder queries.

Changes to this policy

When data processing changes, we will update this page and record the change.

In this version there are no user accounts and the family space is a mock-up with no storage. While there is no email provider, alerts work as a waiting list: we store your address and what you follow, we send you nothing, and you can delete yourself by entering your address on the alerts page.
