Editorial policy
Usefulness for the reader takes priority over commercial interest, and that priority must be verifiable.
Editorial independence
No consular office pays to appear, to rank in a list or to shape its record. We do not accept payments that alter an office's editorial presence.
Advertising, affiliate links and sponsorship are labelled visibly and never change the jurisdiction finder's result.
Separating information from advertising
Address, phone, hours, jurisdiction, sources and the official button appear without payment and without ads that imitate or hide them.
No advert may look like an appointment button, an official download or a system alert.
Authorship and accountability
Guides are authored by the ConsulMap editorial team. We do not create fictional profiles, inflated biographies or credentials that do not exist.
When a guide no longer has an identifiable owner, it is retired rather than kept out of inertia.
Use of assisted tooling
Tooling may structure drafts, translate and detect changes. It may not establish a sensitive fact.
Every critical field links to a structured source a reviewer can check.
Language and promises
We do not use “official”, “guaranteed”, “instant appointment” or “updated today” without backing.
“Official source” means we link and summarise a primary source, not that ConsulMap is an authority.
